A New Adventure

Well, it's here. I finally made a portfolio website for my food photos.

I have always enjoyed photography, and I have always enjoyed baking. When my kids were younger, I learned to decorate cakes and cupcakes. I used to make fancy cakes for their birthdays, but when I took photos of the cakes, the photos never looked very good and it was disappointing because I had worked hard on decorating the cakes. So I began to take more time with the photos, making sure I had a nice background (rather than just my messy kitchen in the background), and then I added more props to my photos etc. Soon I realized I was having more fun taking the photos than I was having making the cakes. Thus began my food photography journey.

In 2020, during covid, I really began to taking my food photography more seriously. I participated in many photo challenges on Instagram and Facebook, and I started reading about and watching videos about food photography. Over the last 4 years I have been working on taking my food photography to a new level, and I would love to make food photography a career. I would love to take photos for bakeries, restaurants, and other businesses near me, for them to use on menus and social media etc. I also dream of shooting photos for magazines and cookbooks. I feel that this portfolio is just one small step towards these goals. I plan to continue to update my portfolio as I continue to take more food photos, and as I start to take on client work as well. Who knows where it will all lead me. Regardless, I absolutely love food photography and I'm excited to see what the future holds. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
