ABOUT Rachel

My name is Rachel Koop and I have always enjoyed photography.  I can remember always wanting to take photos when I was young.  I always loved trying to find a unique view of an object or my surroundings and trying to make my photos unique and interesting. Back then, there were only film cameras, and it was always difficult to wait for my film to be developed so that I could see my photos.

I became interested in food photography specifically when my children were young. I was learning to decorate cakes and cupcakes because I enjoyed making fancy cakes and cupcakes for their birthday parties.   I always took photos of my creations, but I was finding that my photos did not do them justice.  This was disappointing because I had worked so hard on them.  So gradually I began to take more time with the photos, making sure I had a nice background and adding  more props to my photos.  Soon I realized I was having more fun taking the photos than I was having making the cakes.  This began my food photography journey. 

In 2020, I really began to taking my food photography more seriously.  I participated in many photo challenges on Instagram and Facebook, and I started reading about and watching videos about food photography.  Over the last 4 years I have been working on taking my food photography to a new level, and I would love to make food photography my career.
